How to Help
Financial Support
The support you provide can make a great difference to a child and his (or her) family. For instance:
- Your gift of $130 can pay for a child to attend the Lewis Children’s Center’s Villa Voyagers summer camp, where they will learn, play and have fun!
- It costs approximately $500 to take a group of children on a field trip to a regional attraction such as Monticello in Charlottesville or the Virginia Marine Science Museum in Virginia Beach. Your gift could make more field trips possible.
- Your gift of $175 can provide one week of after-school care to a child suffering from autism, mental retardation or multiple learning disabilities. Your gift also allows the child’s parents to work a full day without having to worry about getting adequate care for their child.
- It costs approximately $400 per week for a homeless mother and her child(ren) to live in the Flagler Home on the Villa’s campus. Your gift can provide additional services for the family.
- It costs almost $600 to provide weekend respite care to a child with autism, multiple learning disabilities or mental retardation. Many families cannot afford this expense, and your gift could help the parents “get a break” from the constant responsibilities they take on to care for their child. (Fact: The divorce rate among families with a severely disabled child is approximately 90 percent.)
These are only a few examples of the types of care you can make possible with your donation to St. Joseph’s Villa. In addition to the basic costs of providing care, we are always looking for ways to enrich our programs through field trips, better teaching materials and newer technology. Donations to our annual fund allow many of these “niceties” to become realities.
Your gifts to St. Joseph’s Villa are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. In advance, thank you for your help.
