Emergency Shelter

St. Joseph’s Villa’s Emergency Shelter provides temporary shelter (up to 120 days) to children suffering from abuse, neglect or crisis within the family. The Shelter accepts children 24 hours a day, and it can accommodate up to 19 boys and girls (including siblings) from 2 to 17 years old, who are placed in the shelter by local agencies throughout Virginia.

The Shelter’s focus is to provide comprehensive assessments of the child’s state, to stabilize the child and to assist with a successful transition back to the community. The staff includes a Director, a Treatment Specialist, Youth Counselors and a Case Manager, who develops and executes a Service Plan to address each child’s needs.

The Shelter is located on the Villa campus, and residents at the Shelter may take advantage of many other services, including schools, Lewis Children’s Center, Therapeutic Day Treatment and the Villa’s Donation Center.
