The Pedestrian Avenue is Just Right for a Mardi Gras Parade

Students and staff from the Sarah Dooley Center observed Mardi Gras with a parade through the Villa campus in late February.  The recently completed Pedestrian Avenue served as a perfect parade route!

By coincidence, two staff members at the Sarah Dooley Center are from New Orleans, and they couldn’t let the opportunity for a good parade pass them by!

LCC Holiday Show Brightens Faces

Part of the LCC Holiday Show

One of this season’s highlights was a Holiday Show presented by Lewis Children’s Center (and others) for the entertainment of the Villa’s children and staff.  The Dooley School auditorium was jam-packed for the many songs and dances put on by our rising stars at LCC.  A big “Thanks!” to LCC’s staff and to the many talented performers who made this holiday so special!

Villa Tree on Display at Miller & Rhoads

The Villa's 2011 Tree

St. Joseph’s Villa is taking part in the Miller & Rhoads 2011 Christmas Tree Contest in downtown Richmond.

During the month of December, the Villa’s tree and 50 others will be on display in the windows of the old Miller & Rhoads department store at 5th and Broad Streets.  Passers-by will be delighted to see beautiful trees representing the area’s leading nonprofit organizations.  They also can vote for their favorite tree (Go, Villa!) at www.christmastreecontest.com

All 51 trees will be auctioned at an event on Friday, January 6, 2012.

The Villa’s tree was sponsored by O’Toole’s Restaurant in Westover Hills.  If you are dining there, please let John O’Toole know that you appreciate his support.

The tree was decorated by Villa Volunteer Lynn Volkman.  Thanks, Lynn!
