Three students from Brook Road Academy got a HUGE thrill recently: they met President Obama on the president’s recent trip to speak at the Rolls-Royce plant in Prince George County.
One of the president’s Secret Service agents is a personal friend of Brook Road Academy teacher Ben Walters and his wife. So when the president announced his trip, the agent asked Ben if he would like to bring some students to meet the president.
The result? The students got a thrill of a lifetime!
Ben Helps Garden Grow!
Ben, a Book Road Academy student, recently completed a project through the Career and Transition Services program to revitalize the garden at Seton House, the building that houses the Villa’s Day Support program. At the ceremony to officially open the space, Ben and his parents are shown with Elisabeth Rigsby (far right), Head of Brook Road Academy. Thank you, Ben! Good job!
Students at Brook Road Academy now have yoga classes!
Students at Brook Road Academy have yet another reason to get to school these days: yoga classes have been added to the program!
Each week, a trained instructor from Project Yoga Richmond works with students and teachers to help them learn how to stretch and relax.
Brook Road Academy is the Villa’s nontraditional middle- and high school.
Students and staff from Brook Road Academy represented the school and St. Joseph’s Villa well at the 9th annual Maymont X-Country Festival on Friday, September 23, 2011.
