This training will take a deep dive into how mental health issues can be understood and managed by police personnel, and is designed to provide:

  • An overview of mental health conditions commonly involved in law enforcement encounters
  • Behavioral drivers of an individual impaired by mental illness
  • De-escalation techniques through the lens of mental illness
  • Open discussion regarding situational or behavior-specific mental health concerns brought by participants
