Seeking AmeriCorps VISTA Member for Flagler Housing Resource Center
The Virginia Housing Alliance (VHA) and local partners have announced the availability of AmeriCorps VISTA Member positions to support planning groups and service providers responsible for ending homelessness in Virginia. Our Flagler Housing Resource Center in Petersburg is one of the sites seeking a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA Member.
St. Joseph’s Villa serves as the lead agency for the Balance of State Continuum of Care for the Crater Area Coalition on Homelessness (CACH). The Villa has brought community-wide education, awareness, and inter-agency coordination in serving homeless and unstably housed households, and has played an important role in stimulating and facilitating regional collaboration. The VISTA member will make community connections with rural and urban partners to develop outreach programs for those who are in need of homelessness services, and will help identify gaps in service.
AmeriCorps VISTA Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency, and build permanent infrastructure to help the organization or agency more effectively bring individuals and communities out of poverty.
The VHA VISTA Project provides VISTA Members with the knowledge and skills necessary to support the transition to sustainable and more effective homeless response systems in Virginia communities. VISTA Members provide key leadership, guidance, and direction to help VHA’s local partners achieve greater impact for their clients experiencing and at risk of homelessness.
