Outpatient Behavioral Therapy

Counseling that Meets You Where You Are

Outpatient Behavioral Therapy (OBT) combines clinic and community-based care to help children with autism and developmental disabilities improve their communication and daily living skills. Working with the whole family, we use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to create more positive interactions at home while providing the supports needed to avoid out-of-home placement. We’re also here to help you advocate for your child and connect with additional services that will make caregiving easier. We offer services in our clinic, at home, and out in the community. Our program is part of Medicaid’s Early Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) program.

What We Provide

When you join OBT, you and your child will receive:

A comprehensive assessment
An Individualized Service Plan with short and long-term goals
Quarterly progress and service plan reviews
Case collaboration to coordinate and communicate with any outside services like speech therapy, psychiatry, and school
24-hour support, including weekends

We offer training for families on specific diagnoses or communication devices, help with behavior support plans, and guidance to keep things consistent and structured at home. All therapy is overseen by a Licensed Behavior Analyst.

Campus Resources

OBT is located on the Villa’s therapeutic campus, providing an option for treatment outside of the home. Participants have access to a variety of campus amenities, including:

A year-round Learning & Therapy Garden
A gymnasium and outdoor basketball courts
Playgrounds and a fitness park with accessible equipment
The Villa Grocery food pantry, laundry facilities, and community donation center (the Villa Shoppe)

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria established by Medicaid/EPSDT includes:

Documented medical necessity for treatment
Behavioral needs, communication limitations or developmental delays
Demonstrated clinical need due to intellectual disabilities, brain injury, or behavioral/emotional illness (DSM V diagnosis)
Client must be age 3 to 21

Admission Steps

Referral is received and initial contact is made by Admissions Office to gather client information.
Insurance eligibility is verified and referral is sent to service-specific team.
Referral is assigned to a clinician to set up preliminary assessment.
